GTA 6 Map: All 6 Confirmed Regions of Leonida
Rockstar has officially named six regions across the state of Leonida: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga. Here is every confirmed location, sub-area and what we actually know about the map's size.

GTA 6 takes place in the state of Leonida, Rockstar's fictional stand-in for Florida, and Rockstar has officially named six regions across it: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. Here is a tour of every one of them, built from Rockstar's own region descriptions rather than fan speculation.
The essentials:
- Six confirmed regions: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Mount Kalaga National Park
- Leonida is Rockstar's fictional version of Florida, following the same real-place-inspired approach as Los Santos (California) and New Austin (the American West)
- Rockstar has not published an official map size; fan estimates put Leonida at roughly 2 to 3 times the size of GTA 5's map
- Confirmed sub-locations cluster almost entirely inside Vice City, with a handful in Ambrosia
- Expect a genuine mix of traversal: city streets and cruise-ship docks in Vice City, airboats through Grassrivers, open water around the Keys, and off-road trails through Mount Kalaga
| Region | Florida inspiration | Vibe |
|---|---|---|
| Vice City | Miami | Neon-lit city, cruise port, art-deco strip |
| Leonida Keys | The Florida Keys | Tropical islands, open water, smuggling routes |
| Grassrivers | The Everglades | Mangrove swamp, alligators, airboats |
| Port Gellhorn | Faded Gulf Coast resort towns | Declining tourist town, motels, truck stops |
| Ambrosia | Rural industrial Florida | Sugar refineries, biker gangs, factory towns |
| Mount Kalaga | North Florida uplands | Forested mountains, hunting, off-road trails |
Vice City: the heart of Leonida
Vice City is the region most players already know by name. Rockstar describes it as capturing "the glamour, hustle, and greed of America... in a single city," and it is the clear narrative and gameplay hub of the map - see our breakdown of where GTA 6 is set for the full picture.
Confirmed sub-locations inside Vice City include:
- Ocean Beach - the pastel, art-deco strip of hotels that anchors most of the marketing art
- Little Cuba - a dense neighborhood built around panaderias and Latin American culture
- Tisha-Wocka - a flea market district
- VC Port - the working port, and the arrival point for cruise ships
- Southside Vice City - a grittier southern district
- Shore Court - a garage location shown in trailer footage
Rockstar materials also reference the Vercetti Estate and the Ocean View Hotel, both callbacks that Vice City veterans will recognize instantly. For the full rundown of every district Rockstar has shown, see our GTA 6 neighborhoods guide.
The Leonida Keys: island life, dangerous waters
South of the mainland, the Leonida Keys are a tropical island chain modeled on the real Florida Keys. Rockstar's own copy leans into a slower, "isn't flashy but it's easy" pace, paired with a warning about "beautiful and dangerous waters" nearby. No individual Keys locations have been named yet, but the setup strongly implies boat-heavy gameplay: island-hopping, smuggling routes and open-water encounters between landmasses that aren't connected by road.
Grassrivers: the swamp
Grassrivers is Leonida's take on the Everglades - Rockstar calls it a "primordial expanse" of mangroves, home to alligators and, in the game's own words, "deadlier predators." Expect airboats, narrow waterways and low visibility as the defining traversal challenge here, closer in feel to the bayou areas of past Rockstar games than anything in GTA 5's Los Santos.
Port Gellhorn: a faded resort town
Port Gellhorn was once a popular vacation destination that has since been "revitalized" into something rougher. Rockstar's description is blunt: its current economy runs on "malt liquor, painkillers, and truck stop energy drinks." Expect the aesthetic of a tourist town well past its prime - motels, strip malls and a local economy shaped by decline rather than the polish of Vice City.
Ambrosia: sugar, steel and biker gangs
Ambrosia is described as Leonida's industrial heart, where "American industry and old school values still reign." The confirmed Allied Crystal sugar refinery anchors the region's economy, and Rockstar notes a local biker gang as an "alternative employment" option for residents - a strong hint that Ambrosia will carry its own criminal subplot separate from the Vice City core, in the same way GTA 5's Sandy Shores and Blaine County ran parallel to Los Santos.
Mount Kalaga National Park: the wild north
Sitting against Leonida's northern border, Mount Kalaga National Park is the state's forested, higher-elevation region - "prime hunting, fishing, and off-road trails," per Rockstar, alongside a population described as "hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals." It's the clearest signal yet that Leonida won't be all coastline: expect elevation changes, dense forest and a rural culture distinct from the swamp of Grassrivers or the industry of Ambrosia.
How big is the GTA 6 map, really?
Rockstar has not released an official map size or world map image for GTA 6. Every number circulating online - including the commonly cited estimate of roughly 2 to 3 times the size of GTA 5's map - comes from community analysis of trailer footage and older leaks, not from Rockstar itself. Treat any specific square-mile or square-kilometer figure as an educated guess until Rockstar confirms one. For the full comparison against GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, see our GTA 6 map size guide.
What the six regions tell us about how you'll play
Putting the six regions side by side, a pattern emerges: Leonida is built to force variety in how you get around. A dense urban core (Vice City) sits next to open water and islands (the Leonida Keys), swampland that needs an airboat (Grassrivers), a declining coastal town (Port Gellhorn), an industrial rural county (Ambrosia) and a mountainous national park (Mount Kalaga). That's a wider spread of biomes than GTA 5's desert-and-city Los Santos, and it points to cars, boats and aircraft all being genuinely necessary rather than optional. It also lines up with what we've seen of the vehicles shown in the GTA 6 trailers so far, and with the broader question of what other cities exist beyond Vice City.
GTA 6 map leaks: what to ignore
Fan-made maps claiming to show exact borders, street names or building layouts circulate constantly. None of them are official. The six regions above, and the sub-locations named in this guide, are the only pieces of the Leonida map Rockstar has actually confirmed - everything else, including specific size figures, is speculation dressed up as fact. We'll update this guide the moment Rockstar reveals more.
